Having passed B.V.A (Painting) with 1st Class from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata in 2002-03 and BFA (Painting) from RBU Kolkata on 2003-04 and having completed post-graduation on Multimedia training on design at Arena Institute Mumbai on 2006, Subhra Kumar Banerjee is a visual artist and designer who specialize in ink, charcoal and acrylic. While working as an art director in Mumbai for two years he got a huge exposure which inspired him to turn on his painting career. Dramatic environment, light, camera, actors, their makeover which split them from reality and make them a different personality fed his artistic mind. Later those elementary gestures were reflected in his expression of art. He had several solo shows, group shows and participations at renowned art galleries inland and abroad for almost two decades to his credit. Subhra is greatly inspired by his grandparent Late Deba Prasad Chatterjee, a great poet and illustrator of comics and cartoons that paved his way of freedom of expressions in his paintings. In his words, ‘Nature and landscape never inspire me to do art. I catch every single state of mind with the final stroke on my paper and canvas.’
